Midwifery is a second and much cherished career for me. After working as a social worker in Addictions and Mental Health for 9 years I began my path toward midwifery following the birth of my second child. I had midwifery care for my pregnancy and birth and was inspired by the quality of care I received - I wanted to be able to serve in the same way. I completed my Midwifery degree in April 2021 and continue to grow my passion for working with birthing people and their families during this powerful time in their lives.
There are so many aspects of this work that I love, however, one of my favourite parts is being able to bring my previous professional experience into midwifery. I feel strongly about nurturing the mental health of those I am working with, and believe that when an individual is cared for with empathy, respect and empowerment throughout their prenatal and birthing experience, this will enhance their self perception and impact positively on their journey into parenthood. Pronouns she/her.
